Surgery is indicated for unstable or painful spinal fractures that threaten spinal cord integrity. Fixation or cement augmentation may be performed.
Depending on fracture severity, screws and rods may be used to stabilize the spine. Alternatively, vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty is done for compression fractures. Recovery includes bracing and guided mobility.
